Lukashenko received a report from the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The focus was on the aftermath of the severe weather and the cleanup efforts

On September 7, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko heard a report from Emergency Situations Minister Vadim Sinyavsky. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state was informed in detail about the consequences of strong winds across the republic on September 5–6. It was noted that the elements did not cause any serious problems.

About 280 localities experienced power supply disruptions, which energy workers fully restored within a day. Strong winds also caused trees to fall, and Emergency Situations Ministry units were deployed to clear them promptly. In Minsk, three children were injured when a frame tent collapsed; they received all necessary assistance.

During the report, Alexander Lukashenko reiterated tasks concerning not only the response to the consequences of adverse weather, but also its timely forecasting in order to minimise potential damage. Attention was also paid to the cooperation of the Emergency Situations Ministry with all relevant agencies in carrying out tasks to combat the elements.

The Emergency Situations Ministry is currently preparing for the autumn-winter period. Temperatures will decline, leading to the use of heating appliances in private homes. In view of a possible increase in the number of fires in the housing stock, the rescue agency is carrying out a set of preventive measures.
