Belarus’ 17th century icons go on display in Minsk
MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – An exhibition, The Holy Mother Image in the Belarusian 17th-18th Century Icon Painting, opened at the National Art Museum of Belarus on 16 November.
Of more than 20 masterpieces 10 icons are featured for the first time. The expo has also displayed the works of the 19th century.
According to the organizers, visitors will be keen to see wonderworking images such as Our Lady of Minsk (Odigitria, the 17th century), Our Lady of Boruny (Odigitria), Our Lady of Zhirovichi (1751), and many more.
The exhibition will stay open until 16 January 2012.
